Founded in 2004 is a combined architectural practice and environmental consultancy focusing om sustainable people-centred social development. Based in Rjukan and Oslo, Context has won several international architectural competitions and has played a leading role in the sustainable development of Norway's building sector through catalysing many influential and innovative reference projects.
Our key areas of expertise are architecture, sustainable design, art & community and masterplanning.
We work to identify the specific qualities and environmental criteria of each context and seek ways to integrate these in our projects, whether the design proposal for a given site or historic building or a planning process for the development of a whole community. Process management is a key component of our expertise, in everything from individual buildings to large scale development projects.
Context has won several national and international architecture competitions over the years.
Context has also in recent years developed, and is currently delivering Norway's most environmentally friendly building system through our sister company bECOs AS.
